It is the start of summer holidays. Sisters Ellie and Pam are enjoying the bright, sunny day. An ice cream treat, and a visit to a playground lead to a sudden change of summer plans for Ellie. Pam helps her sister to the hospital, and tries to comfort Ellie as the reality of her situation sets in. Watch as her leg is set, casted and she starts to adapt to her new situation.
It has been two weeks since Ellie’s summer plans were suddenly broken, along with her leg. She has spent most of that time resting at home, keeping her badly broken leg elevated. Despite the visits of her many friends, she is getting restless and a bit stir crazy. The day of her first checkup has arrived, however, and Ellie is hopeful that she can go back to work. Leaving her apartment, her sister helps her outside and into her car. It is clear that Ellie has gotten used to having to get around on her crutches. Although still experiencing some pain, her leg is clearly not nearly as sensitive as when it was first broken. Her checkup at the hospital goes well, and although her bones are healing, the doctor expects it to be a long, slow recovery. However, she does clear Ellie to go back to work. Upon leaving the hospital, both sisters stop to buy a snack at a store. Ellie then heads to her job in a clothing boutique. Customers are most interested in her leg and ask all about it. Most even add their signatures to her already well autographed cast. After a quick lunch elsewhere in the mall, it is back to work for Ellie. A long, busy first day back at work on crutches for this broken damsel!
